Hi everyone!
Thank you all for your patience and support as we’ve been working away on Guillotine!!! We are unbelievably excited to share 1.0 with you all!! It's finally here!
We will be posting a tier-locked update (for those in the Digital Edition tier and above) which includes an itchi.io download link of the digital PDF. We will also send the files via Backerkit later today, so keep an eye on your emails.
If for some reason you can't access either version, please reach out to us--either on Kickstarter or at our email--and we'll personally send you a digital PDF. Our email is [email protected].

Hi everyone!
We wanted to let you know that we’re taking this next week to do a final round of polishing! We are extremely excited to share the digital edition of Guillotine with you next Monday, 10/6!
It will be sent out through email through a tier-locked update, so keep your eyes on your inbox. It can also be found on Guillotine’s Kickstarter update page, after release next Monday.

Upcoming Digital Release and Late Backer Options!!!

Hi everyone!
We are excited to announce that we're approaching the end of production on Guillotine: Crown of Blood. That means it’ll be in your hands soon! We also wanted to share some other developments we’ve been looking forward to sharing!
First and foremost, we’d like to thank you all for your interest in and support of our first game, Guillotine. We are on track to have a digital copy of the game released in September (that’s in less than 2 weeks!!). The print run for physical copies will begin in late September, with our goal being to have copies shipped in October. We can give more specific projections for arrival times once we hear from the printer, but we are anticipating late October or early November arrival dates for physical copies. If anything changes, we will let you know immediately.
In other news: your continued support has inspired us to continue to write TTRPGs and share them with you all!! So we’d like to announce the founding of Tally Owl Cooperative Press!
Part of the decision to found this co-op press is based on our values and goals as writers and publishers. The people who write this game -- Ash and Wren -- are both people with publishing experience who want to bring that experience to a less traditional model. We're really excited to use this press to continue bringing you new TTRPGs. With that in mind, we have a second project (along with an exciting art collaboration!) that we can’t wait to share with you once the digital version of Guillotine is in your hands.
That said, if you have questions about any of this --or if you're a TTRPG creator looking for a cooperative press to work with -- please feel free to reach out to [email protected]. If you are a creator, please put "TTRPG Proposal" in the subject line.

Playtest Document Updated!

Hi everyone,
We have another round of updates for you! This round of updates includes feedback from the community, as well as some small tweaks for clarity throughout.

We also want to start to keep a change-log to keep those planning or playing Guillotine campaigns aware of recent changes. So, with that in mind, here are the changes to this latest release:
Guillotine 0.4
- More clearly defined summoning mechanics and constraints
- Factions can now be tapped to reduce foundation strength
- The Firebrand base move has been rebalanced and rewritten
- Added 3 new foundation types, and reworked existing ones
- The Leech playbook has been renamed to the Promethian
- The Demiurge playbook has been renamed to God-thing
Those are the major changes! You can expect another update soon, as we're continuing to work through improvements to core mechanics (as well as grammatical edits throughout.) The Discord community also voted on what they'd like to see next, and Downtime was a resounding winner in both polls, so you can expect some more detailed mechanics on Downtime in future updates. The runner up was the Conflict Turn, and we already have some ideas on what to incorporate there -- mechanics for inner-Crown and inner-Cause conflicts, as well as more detailed ones for seizing pillars, are on next on the to-do list.
